I went to Texas to see the children

I was planning to spend Father's Day with my family.

But instead, I boarded a plane to El Paso at the crack of dawn to join my friend, Rep. Beto O'Rourke, and thousands more outside the detention center in Tornillo, Texas.

Lauren and I realized — there's nowhere more important for me to be.

I spent the morning at the tent city the Trump Administration has built for immigrant children under the blazing West Texas sun. We tried to go inside but federal officials wouldn't allow it. They told us we had to wait two weeks.

They said the kids were fine.

Nothing about this is fine.

Hundreds of children, many forcibly separated from their parents, are imprisoned by our government, held in our name.

This is wrong. We must be better than this.

Watch the video of my speech in Tornillo. Share it with your friends.

And then, please consider making a charitable donation to the organizations fighting to reunite these children with their families.

We can stop this injustice.
