An end to empty condolences?

There was a time when Congress passed sensible gun safety rules.

We kept weapons of war off the streets. We treated firearms with caution.

In recent years, the gun lobby has attacked those protections and challenged any legislation – no matter how reasonable, no matter how popular – that would keep our communities safe from gun violence.

But now, with a Democratic majority in the House and dozens of new lawmakers who have vowed to take on gun violence, we have the best chance in a generation to pass gun safety reform.

Sign the petition: tell the new Congress to pass gun safety reform.

It's long past time to:

  • protect our communities by requiring universal background checks;
  • save lives by closing the "boyfriend" loophole;
  • keep military-grade assault weapons and high capacity magazines off our streets;
  • immediately invest in federally-mandated gun violence research.

It's time to act.

No more empty condolences. No more deflections and rationalizations. No more "thoughts and prayers" that go nowhere.

Tell Congress: the time is now. Prioritize gun safety in 2019.
