Protect LGBTQIA+ rights [Add your name]

Equal justice under law.

That's carved in stone on our highest court, but not guaranteed inside.

Recently the House passed the Equality Act to – at last – protect the civil rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. Yet, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have gone out of their way to count them as less than.

By banning transgender Americans from serving in our military and armed forces.

By redefining 'gender' as biologically determined at birth.

By allowing doctors to refuse medical treatment to trans individuals.

By granting federally-funded adoption agencies permission to turn away LGBTQIA+ families from adopting.

By choosing an openly homophobic vice president to serve the American people.

Discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people is still legal in 30 states. Applying for a job. For housing. For credit. For education. For public accommodations. Even buying a cake.

That's not the America we're fighting for. And that's not the America we deserve.

Sign the petition: demand Mitch McConnell and the Senate pass LGBTQIA+ protections. Now.

This weekend, my family and I were proud to march shoulder to shoulder with thousands of other activists in the Boston Pride parade to demand a progressive country truly committed to equality.

In a country just beginning to wrestle with its legacy of institutional prejudice and cruelty, the Equality Act is a critical step toward keeping our promise of legal and lived equality. And under an administration that cultivates hatred to cement its own power, we must fight harder for those who are being silenced.

Because every day we fail to live up to the ideals of the American experiment is a day we know we must be better.

Sign the petition to tell Senate Republicans " No more delays. Protect LGBTQIA+ rights!"
